What are the most common reasons an AC stops cooling?

A flat diagnostic fee is charged on the initial visit and is waived when you approve the recommended repair the same day. Why does my AC freeze up and stop working?

Ice on the copper line and evaporator coil means airflow across the coil dropped too low or the refrigerant charge is too low. The two most common causes are a clogged filter and a slow refrigerant leak. Shut the AC off, run FAN ONLY for an hour to thaw the coil, replace the filter, then call us — running a frozen system risks the compressor.

Most standard residential AC repairs are completed on the first visit because our trucks stock capacitors, contactors, condensate pumps, dual‑run motors, and common ECM boards. Deeper repairs (compressor replacement, refrigerant leak search + repair, custom coil orders) may need a second visit once parts arrive.
